What Was the Beginning? And How Was the End?

My wish was to play a role in documenting and reminding the new generation of our precious heritage, so they would acknowledge it and take pride in it, just as I do. Eventually, I was given the opportunity to create these characters, which took me a long time to bring to life.

This work spanned eight months, resulting in 205 characters of various sizes, starting from a single thread of yarn, along with 15 project models for suitable backgrounds. These works reflect parts of past life in all its details.

Even the smallest elements and special details in these projects were made by my own hands, requiring extra time and effort to complete them correctly in terms of color, size, and precision. These images convey part of my personal workshop during the creation of these models.

Even the honest narrators in that adventure, and the lingering details, were of a unique kind that came and went, leaving the story incomplete. The beginning, the end, and all the details remain. This story is more than letters, more than documents, more than names, more than titles.

What Is Heritage? Definition and Importance

Heritage, in its simplest sense, is the legacy passed down from previous generations to the present ones. It is what ancestors left behind to serve as lessons from the past and a path from which children draw guidance to move from their present into the future. In civilization, heritage is like the roots of a tree; the deeper and more branched the roots, the stronger and more resilient the tree becomes in facing the changes of time. Scientifically, heritage is a cultural discipline in its own right, focusing on a specific sector of culture (traditional or folk) and shedding light on it from historical, geographical, social, and psychological perspectives. Folk heritage includes people’s customs and traditions.

Components of Folk Heritage

It expresses opinions, ideas, and feelings passed down from generation to generation. The largest part of folk heritage consists of folk tales such as poems and sung verses, stories of mythical creatures, heroic tales, and legends.

Folk heritage also includes arts and crafts, types of dance, play and entertainment, children’s songs and poetic tales, proverbs, riddles and puzzles, mythical concepts, and religious celebrations and festivals.
